Privacy Notice
Last updated: 2 October 2026
This notice explains how Commercial Finance Advisors Ltd handles personal information received through our website, email, WhatsApp and business enquiries.
Who We Are:
Commercial Finance Advisors Ltd (“CFA”, “we”, “us”) is the data controller responsible for personal information used to handle enquiries and provide our advisory services. We are registered in Ireland under Company Registration No. 652278 and based in Galway, Republic of Ireland.
For privacy enquiries or to exercise your rights, contact Christo Balfe at christo@cfaw.ie or telephone +353 86 836 3626.
Information We Receive:
We receive your name, email address, telephone number where provided, and any information you choose to share about your business, project or funding requirements. Please provide only information relevant to your enquiry. Initial enquiries should not include identity documents, bank account details or sensitive personal information.
The contact form requires your name, email address and message so that we can understand and respond to your enquiry. Providing information is voluntary, but we may be unable to respond without suitable contact details.
How We Use Your Information:
We use information to respond to enquiries, arrange discussions, understand a project, assess whether our services may be suitable and provide services agreed under an engagement. We also use relevant records to manage professional relationships and meet applicable legal obligations.
Our lawful basis for handling business enquiries and correspondence is our legitimate interest in responding to potential clients and managing our advisory business. Where you contract with us as an individual, we may also process information to take steps at your request before a contract or to perform that contract. Where required by law, we rely on the relevant legal obligation.
AI-Assisted Tools:
We may use AI-assisted tools to help review and organise enquiries, analyse project information and prepare documents, subject to appropriate safeguards. Where personal information is included, it may be processed by the relevant AI service provider. Only information necessary for the task should be used, and identifying details should be removed where practical. Please contact us for information about the tools used in connection with your enquiry or engagement.
Sharing Your Information:
We do not share enquiry or project information with investors, funding partners or other advisers before an engagement agreement has been signed. Following engagement, relevant information may be shared with the parties involved in the agreed service, within the scope of that engagement and subject to applicable data protection requirements.
Service providers may process information to support our operations. These include Webador for our website and email, AI tool providers where used as described above, and WhatsApp if you choose to contact us through that service. This operational processing is separate from sharing your project with funding parties. We may also disclose information where legally required.
Processing Outside the EEA:
Some service providers may process information outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Any such processing must meet applicable data protection requirements, using an adequacy decision or appropriate safeguards, such as European Commission Standard Contractual Clauses, where required. Provider arrangements depend on the service used.
Further information is available in Webador’s privacy statement and WhatsApp’s EEA privacy policy. Contact christo@cfaw.ie for information about recipients, locations and safeguards relevant to your enquiry or engagement, including how to obtain a copy of applicable safeguards.
How Long We Keep Information:
Enquiry emails and related correspondence are retained for up to three years and then deleted, or sooner where no longer needed. Records relating to a formal engagement may need to be retained for a different period to fulfil that engagement, meet legal obligations or establish, exercise or defend legal claims. Any engagement-specific retention requirements will be explained separately.
Your Rights:
Depending on the circumstances, you can request access to your personal information, correction, deletion, restriction of processing or data portability. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests. If we rely on consent for a particular activity, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing.
To make a request, email christo@cfaw.ie. We may need to verify your identity before responding. You also have the right to complain to Ireland’s Data Protection Commission.
Updates:
We may update this notice to reflect changes in our services or how information is handled. The current version will be available on this page.
